Welcome to the new nickcostamusic.com

Hello Everyone!

It has been quite some time, and A LOT has been happening.  First off, welcome to the new site.  Take a look around, check out the new pages – especially the STORE, where you can get drum accessories, lessons, and music!

Since the last update in November, I’ve been continuing to play with George Weldon and his various Jazz Ensembles, along with regularly playing at Valley Point Church with their worship team.

Another year in the books teaching for the School District of Philadelphia, where we were able to start rebuilding the program at School of the Future with a Drumline and “Modern Band” (think show/cover band), and we started a music program at Southern!  The Drumline was able to learn 5 cadences in a few short months, and was able to play various school events including Southern’s 2016 Graduation!  Finally, the students at FLC continue to impress, as they are now apart of one of the top programs in the district. The Modern Band was featured on NBC 10 for the grant they received from Little Kids Rock, and even performed at the BEACHGLOW concert in Wildwood, NJ back in July!

At UArts, I taught RUMBLE, the alternative bucket drum ensemble.  Students performed over 15 performances throughout the greater Philadelphia area, including a major event down at Independence Mall.

Oh, and VILLANOVA WON THE NCAA BASKETBALL TITLE!

But wait, it’s not over yet – I just finished as the Teaching Assistant for all Music Technology courses offered at UArts Summer Music Studies this summer.  Hosted at Villanova, UArts offered various courses in Logic X, Pro Tools, Audacity, and Web-based programs, which Music Educators could take for Act-48 credits, or for credits towards their masters degrees.

So yes, it’s been crazy – but that’s a great thing when you’re involved with music. Just a few more weeks of summer before it all picks up again – starting with Music Camp at Villanova.

If you’re in the Glen Mills area, come by Valley Point this Sunday, August 7th and worship with us!  I’ll be on drums, and details are on the DATES Page.

That’s it for now, until next time,

-Nick
