Apparently yesterday was National Daughter’s Day Apparently yesterday was National Daughter’s Day, but everyday is National Daughter’s Day with this little lady baby. She turns everything into a drum, and doesn’t hesitate to hit a drum at zimbini with her mom. Just like her pops, only plays @remopercussion

Woke up to the news via @wolf_drums . Philly lost Woke up to the news via @wolf_drums . Philly lost an icon - THE WORLD lost an icon. I met Doc my first year teaching in Philly. He was an artist fellow at Duckery elementary, a neighborhood school right on Diamond st. I taught drums there on Tuesdays, and day one the principal tells me “we have a drum teacher, he comes to teach for an hour.” Next thing I know doc pulls up with a bunch of djembe’s in the back of his pickup! I learned a lot from him in our short time together, and appreciate the knowledge, wisdom, and lending ear he gave a 20 something first year educator. Rest easy, Doc, and thank you…

After 1.5 years of remote instruction, we couldn’t be more excited to be back in the classroom! Unfortunately, the kits we were forced to loan out to our students suffered from typical wear, and some components were misplaced. A lot of what I encounter as an educator is studen A lot of what I encounter as an educator is students starting out with unhealthy habits - mostly from watching local drill teams, being taught by someone instilling tension in order to play, or a combo of both. It creates more frustration for the student because of slow progress due to physically restraining while playing. They’re exerting too much and causing injury. Regardless of where you are as a drummer, check out @vicfirth ‘s behind the sleeves with @daveelitch . So much information from a video under 40 minutes that is super helpful.
