My 1st Snare Drum - The Ludwig LM402 Black Acrolite!
This video I show you my 1st snare drum – the Ludwig LM404 black acrolite. Ask any drummer about their 1st snare, and most likely they will remember. Some “collectors” like myself still have them, so in this video you get to see it – and the modifications I did to it that might not have been a great idea. The Ludwig LM404 was an aluminum shell with a finish that’s known as “Black Galaxy.” This student model drum came with 8 bowtie lugs, triple flanged hoops, generic snare wires, and the Ludwig P85 Throw-off. What was once seen as an affordable drum is now one that goes for $200+ – unless you find one that has 4 big vents in it.
